playing for change.
Posted: November 26th, 2008 | Author: Mike | Filed under: Personal | No Comments »As filmmakers Mark Johnson and Jonathan Walls travelled around the world shooting their documentary Playing for Change: Peace Through Music, they recorded a number of “songs around the world.” The first release is Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me”, with the base track recorded by Santa Monica street performer Roger Ridley. From there, some 16 other street musicians or groups added to the track (some added vocals, percussion, washboard, harmonica – you name it). The result is a beautiful, cohesive collaboration of performers who have never met each other.
Photos and names of all the performers after the jump.
