All tribute/award shows should be like the Kennedy Center Honors.  Each performance tops the one before it until it seems like the whole thing couldn’t get any bigger – then BAM they raise the bar again!

See the above for the recipe to make an 89-year-old Dave Brubeck say “son of a bitch” and grin from ear to ear.  Start with the Dave Brubeck All Star Quintet with Bill Charlap on piano.  Add the US Army Field Band on brass.  Top it off with Brubeck’s FOUR SONS playing piano, drums, trombone and cello.  My heart was racing just from watching it – I can only imagine what it was like to be there. And that was just one of five honorees!
