“But now here’s the deal – any time there’s a big stink like this, and believe me there hasn’t been a big stink like this in years, it’s money. Don’t kid yourselves – its all about money. And, as nice a guy as Conan is, he’s a smart fellow and he knows that if he takes a hike, he’s gonna lose an enormous sum of money. So he just now says ‘Well, I’m not gonna follow Jay. You guys do something about it.’ So now NBC has to do something about it and they have to do one of two things. They have to either pay him an enormous sum of money. I mean, I mean, how much money you think we’re talkin’ about, Paul? [Paul: $40 - 40 million dollars.] Just about in that neighborhood, my friend, just about in that neighborhood.  And that’s big dough. That’s big dough because this whole mistake over there at NBC has cost them hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars.  So now the last thing they want to do – they just want Conan to quit and go away and do a show in his basement. That’s what they want. That’s exactly what they want. But he’s a smart kid, he’s not gonna do that.  He wants – he’s in there for the cash OR they waive his non-compete clause so he can go to Fox or come here and take my job. [Dave gives a wide-eyed, stunned look.] Wait a minute! But it’s very exciting and, uh, and Carson Daly – whoo – this is kinda, ya know – here’s a kid who had a show at – when did his show go on, 1:30? [Paul: Ya - 1:35.] He he he. Having a show at 1:30 is almost exactly like not having a show. The difference between having a show and having one at 1:30? Meeeeeeeh just about like that. [In high pitched voice, bouncing up on his chair] Hey! What about me? I’m – hey – what about – I’m – I’m Pluto, remember me? I used to be a planet!”
